Please note, all swearing aside, the content may be most disturbing to most bible-thumpers. For me, the humor brings me to tears. I love Aaron’s writing style. It is intoxicating and my sides hurt from rolling on the floor laughing.

T-Shirt Hell is one of the most visited T-shirts sites on the net. And why not, there are girls showing off their shirts and other anatomy. You will see in the photo galleries that T-Shirt Hell really gets around. You will find T-Shirt Hell shirts on some familiar faces. Once you get a taste of this compelling yet well-grounded humour and sub-culture, you might decide to pick up a shirt or two, or three. So many great phrases that say the things you want to say. Putting it on a shirt and wearing it makes it gospel.

I put these shirts in the category of “cult shirts”  because they have built up such an enormous fan base. Other T-Shirt companies try to be funny and rarely succeed. My hats off to Sunshine (Aaron) for making such a successful T-Shirt destination on the internet. I will flock there frequently to get another dose.

Curious, I continued to explore their site. Reading their frequently asked questions I got a  glimpse of their humorous style of writing. More of this can be found on their MySpace page. They go on to say that these shirts make a statement.  Kinda like “You belong to some sort of brainiac society”.  OK so you might weed out some intellectuals or possibly find chemists in any crowd.

A very limited printing was done through a screen shop in Tempe Arizona.

As you can see, we did a shot on each sleeve with the logo of the art studio called One Brush Studio. One Brush Studio was the dba for all the artwork and illustration of Karl Knelson.

The Cafe Surreal series was painted during the late 90s as a tribute to both the surrealistic work of Salvidor Dali and the explosive popularity of coffee houses. Thus Cafe Surreal was born. The intention for the series was to show at local coffee houses until an art gallery would give it consideration. Well, some of the artwork from One Brush Studios did make it to some coffee houses. One in San Diego and two in Phoenix.

It is our hope that Cafe Surreal comes back in the form of a t-shirt. We like to call them walking galleries where a small group of friends from the studio invade a coffee house wearing the pieces on several shirts.

At first I thought all they did was white t-shirts, but a las I was wrong they do print on color shirts. I abhore white shirts unless there is a design purpose for it.

They have a huge library of designs by many syndicated cartoonists and professional artists. I have searched on the web for funny mostly to be dissappointed, but once I started searching for “hilarious” I found  T-ShirtHumor.com. Founded in 2002 and based in Austin Texas.

They print with traditional silk screen presses on quality heavy duty t-shirts. The designs are simple and bold enough to be seen across the room.  If you are republican in your political leanings then you should get a few grins. There are some pretty good ones here. If you are liberal then might not like anything. Just a guess.

You can outfit your whole family. They have mens and womens shirts as well as shirts for baby and family dog.

Oliver Flores is an accomplished illustrator from Guadalajara and he is a featured artist at Design By Humans. You can see more of his work at his blog.  There is a ton of work there. If you like what you see there wait until see what Oliver has at his own website OliverFlores.Net.

It is refreshing to me to see such a well rounded  artist. Looking at all of his work he definately shows a lot of range.  You can see that he can execute nice commercial projects as well as the freedom to produce fine art.

He does a lot of cartooning as well as characature work. As you will see in his blog he also shows you some of the preliminary sketches. That is a nice touch. While Oliver uses modern graphics programs like we all do, he still balances that with traditional tools. Remember? Pencils, ink and water color?

They seem to be headquartered at Cafe Press but there are also sleeper sites all over the internet. I am sure this started unexpectedly over a few cases of beer, but it appears they are having a lot of great fun spreading propaganda all over the place.

You will find all kinds of twisted historic world politics transformed into a dog and cat domination. The world as we know it is about to change.

To be fair there is a dog side to this cult and if you have a fondness for canines you will want to check out the Obey the Purebreed area for your revolution directives.

With painted t-shirts you know that you are getting a one-of-kind shirt. With Nautiks you are getting the edge on fashion. Lloyd keeps up with what is going on at the clothing tradeshows and endeavors to stay ahead of the fashion curve. Being first means setting the trend.

Definitely inspired by the Hip Hop genre and located in Berkeley CA, Nautiks routinely gets celebrity traffic.

Watch out for Nautiks as they are getting ready to bust out in 2009 with all kinds of apperral and designs.

How do they do it?

They actually go to these places. Take a look at their Vintage T-Shirt Expedition Blog which chronicles their adventures in locating more cool vintage shirts. Oh and by the way they do take requests. Let them know about cool places in your state. However, it seems that they favor the western states.

The produce high quality shirts and screen press them the traditional way. They are even looking into going organic if it is possible.

They have done so well that they are even distibuting to Nordstrom.

My hats off to them. I am going to go there right now and choose another shirt.
